This collaborative approach ensured the Eastern Kuku Yalanji community's aspirations were central to the development of a new cultural centre and tourism hub.
The project focused on actively involving the community in the design process, ensuring their voices were heard and their cultural needs respected.
Through a series of onsite, facilitated workshops, community members shared their thoughts and ideas, expressing a strong desire for a living cultural centre that would preserve their connection to traditional lands and culture while welcoming visitors.
These workshops shaped key narratives about the cultural landscape and spatial opportunities, guiding the design process by CA Architects and Cox Architecture to reflect the Eastern Kuku Yalanji community’s needs, aspirations, and heritage.
